|
Many people use traditional home remedies before taking any medical prescriptions. Many people are highly benefited from them and some may get temporary relief. But if the patient is not getting any good results from home remedies, medical guidance should be taken. The various home remedies effective in the treatment of arthritis are:
- Garlic is the effective remedy for arthritis. It contains an anti-inflammatory property that makes it effective in the treatment of arthritis. It can be taken raw or cooked.
- A tea made from the seeds of herb alfalfa has been proved beneficial in the treatment of arthritis. One teaspoon of alfalfa seeds can be added to one cup of water. 3-4 cups of tea should be taken daily for at least two weeks.
- Half teaspoon of turmeric powder taken with warm water twice a day is also beneficial.
- Green gram soup mixed with crushed garlic cloves and a teaspoonful of powdered fenugreek seeds in warm water is an effective home remedy in relieving joint pains. It should be taken once a day.
- Copper helps in strengthening the muscular system. Drinking water kept overnight in a copper utensil is highly beneficial as it has traces of copper in it. Wearing a copper ring or bracelet will also be beneficial in the early stages of arthritis.
- Castor oil treatment has been found beneficial in arthritis. Boil two tablespoons of castor oil and pour it into a glass of fresh orange juice. It should be taken before breakfast daily till the patient shows any improvement.
- Bananas are the rich sources of vitamin B6 and have been proved useful in the treatment of arthritis. Taking only bananas for 3-4 days helps in reducing the joint pain. 8-9 bananas can be taken daily.
- The raw potato juice therapy is considered one of the most effective remedies in the treatment of all types of arthritis. The best way to prepare juice is to cut the potato into thin slices without peeling the skin. Soak the pieces overnight in cold water. The water should be drunk early morning with an empty stomach.
- Lime contains citric acid that dissolves the uric acid, main cause of nearly all types of arthritis. Limejuice should be taken daily early in the morning.
- Massaging the inflamed joints with warm coconut oil mixed with camphor oil helps in reducing the stiffness of the joints.
- Make tablets of Indian Gooseberry (amla) powder and molasses. One tablet should be taken twice a day.
- Soak Spiegel seeds in water, form a poultice and apply on the inflamed joint. It may provide immediate relief from pain.
- Powder four pieces of garlic and two grams of Sprague. Dip them in 30 grams of mustard oil and heat slowly. Stop heating when the colour changes and allow it to cool. Sieve the oil with a cloth and use it to massage the affected areas. It may provide relief from all types of body pains
- Fenugreek (methi) seeds when taken with molasses are also beneficial. It provides rest to the paining muscles.
- Soak black gingelly seeds overnight in water. Drink the whole thing in the early morning with an empty stomach. It has been found effective in preventing the joint pains.
- Carrot juice increases physical and mental powers. It is a tonic for all types of ailments. One full glass of carrot juice is recommended daily for at least 3-4 months.
- Garlic, juniper, lavender, cajuput, sage, rosemary, thyme, or sassafras. Any one of these oils diluted in the proportions of one part to 10 parts of olive oil when used to massage the painful joints brings immense relief.
- 1-2 capsules of cod liver oil is recommended daily.
- Circulation around the joints can be improved through tissue-cleansing properties of essential oils, of Juniper, Cypress and Lemon.
- Rubbing hot vinegar every night to the affected areas is also beneficial.
- Seawater contains iodine that regulates the acid-alkaline balance in the body and provides relief from joint pains. Therefore, sea bathing is considered beneficial in the treatment of arthritis.
- Various yogic asanas that are helpful in arthritis are trikonasana, bhujangasana, shalabhasana, naukasana, vakrasana and shavasana.
- Yogic kriyas like jalneti, kapalbhati and pranayamas such as anulomaviloma, ujjai and bhramari are highly beneficial.
- Drink 15 grams of fresh bathu juice with an empty stomach. Do not take anything for at least 2 hours before and after the juice. This should be taken for 1-2 months depending on the improvement in the pain.
- Mix powder of winter cherry with unrefined sugar and store in a glass vessel. Take 4-6 grams of this mixture twice a day with warm milk for 3-6 weeks. It acts as a tonic for the joints.
- Constipation poisons the system and increases irritation and inflammation of the joints. Warm water enema is recommended for few days in order to clean the bowels
